Open fires
Did you know that in Britain open fires cause 14,000 fires every year.
In our area there were 20 of these types of fires last year.
Some of the main areas for concern are:-
*Aerosol cans should not be placed on a hot surface.
*Drying clothes too close or over a fireplace is dangerous.
*Mirrors should never be placed over a fireplace.
*Guard all fires especially at night.
*Furniture should never be placed too near the fire.
*Papers and books should never be left too close to a fire.
*Never put children's toys on a mantelpiece where they may be tempted to reach over the fire to get them.
*Chimneys should be swept twice a year.
*Children should never be left alone in a room that has an open fire
*Guard all fires especially if there are young children in the house.
