Fires caused by smoking materials
Did you know that smoking materials are one of the biggest causes of fire in the home in Britain?
Almost 8,000 fires started last year because of cigarettes and matches.
Last year in our area 5 people died as a result of this type of fire.
In our area there were 145 of these types of fires last year.
Do the adults in your house smoke?
Here are some things to keep in mind.

*A cigarette left burning on an ashtray could fall off and start a fire within minutes.
*It could roll onto furniture and smoulder for up to 3 hours before it starts a fire.
*By this time you and your family could be in bed
*Don't smoke in bed.
