Bedtime Routine
To make your home safe from fire at night the last person to go to bed should
do the following things: -
Ensure all smoking materials have been put out properly and make sure they are not put in the bin while they are still hot.
If you use candles, make sure they have been correctly extinguished.
Unplug any electrical equipment that does not need to be left on overnight.
Heaters and gas fires should not be left on overnight. Open fires should be guarded.
Close all doors in the house. A normal door will hold a fire in a room allowing enough time for you to escape.
