Penarth Fire Station

Staffing
Penarth Fire Station is a wholetime station which is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The station has 40 personnel divided into four shifts or watches and a Station Officer in overall charge.

Location
The station is situated in Hazel Road Penarth and forms part of the South Division.
Within the station area is:-

* a major chemical works
* Llandough Hospital
* nearby docks of Barry and Cardiff.

Specials
The Chemical Incident unit is stationed at Penarth. This vehicle responds to calls throughout South Wales and into neighbouring Brigades.

Calls
As well as attending calls within the area, the station also provides back up cover to all the surrounding stations. On average the station receives a total of 1000 calls per year.

Community
'Community Fire Safety' plays a prominent role at the station where Firefighters serve approximately 60,000 people.
Advice is given free at any time of day and an active programme of visits to schools and local industry is delivered.
High profile public campaigns are carried out at regular intervals, where Firefighters are able to highlight the need for such things as smoke detectors and regular maintenance ensuring continued reliability..
